Vande Hei, Alexander Misurkin of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and Norshige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are serving as backups to the prime crew, Paolo Nespoli of the European Space Agency, Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos and Randy Bresnik of NASA, who will launch July 28 on the Soyuz MS-05 spacecraft for a five-month mission on the International Space Station.
