Making a bright reflection in nearby marsh waters, the space shuttle Discovery heads for its nineteenth mission in Earth orbit. Launch was delayed because of weather, but all systems were "go," and the spacecraft, with its six NASA astronaut crew members aboard, left the launch pad at 6:23 p.m. (EDT) on Sept. 9, 1994. Onboard were astronauts Richard N. Richards, L. Blaine Hammond, Carl J. Meade, Mark C. Lee, Susan J. Helms and Jerry M. Linenger.
