In this view from Level 5, wing platform, of Atlantis’ payload bay, the U.S. Lab Destiny can be seen near the bottom. A key element in the construction of the International Space Station, Destiny is 28 feet long and weighs 16 tons. Destiny will be attached to the Unity node of the ISS using the Shuttle’s robot arm, seen here on the left with the help of an elbow camera, facing left. Measurements of the elbow camera revealed only a one-inch clearance from the U.S. Lab payload, which is under review. Destiny will fly on STS-98, the seventh construction flight to the ISS. Launch of STS-98 is scheduled for Jan. 19 at 2:11 a.m. EST.
