The International Space Station was orbiting 256 miles above the North Pacific Ocean and about 600 miles south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands. In the foreground, are portions of two major space station robotic systems. At right, is the Japanese robotic manipulator system which is attached to the Kibo laboratory module. At upper left, is part of the Canadian robotic manipulator system which can maneuver along various points on the space station.
