North American JF-100C (Serial # 53-1709) was received at NASA Flight Research Center November 2, 1960, from Ames Research Center. The NASA Research Center variable-stability model #709 was used for a range of airborne simulation studies, including some in support of the X-15 and SST studies. The F-100C #709 was returned to General Electric to be restored to flight configuration on February 3, 1964. On March 11, 1964 it was transferred to Ames Research Center.
