Thagard and the two Russian cosmonauts spent more than three months together as crew mates aboard the Mir space station, and returned to Earth earlier today aboard the orbiter Atlantis, concluding Space Shuttle Mission STS-71. Thagard expressed a hankering for ice cream during an on-orbit interview, and was rewarded with the real thing upon his return from a U.S.-record-breaking stay in space.
