This post-landing scene shows to what extent the ground was affected by the soft-landing thrusters of the Soyuz TM-33 spacecraft following its touchdown in Kazakhstan, bringing to a successful conclusion the Soyuz 4 taxi mission. Crew members for the 10-day flight, much of which was spent onboard the International Space Station (ISS) were Yuri Gidzenko, commander; Roberto Vittori, flight engineer; and space flight participant Mark Shuttleworth of South Africa. Gidzenko is with Rosaviakosmos and Vittori represents the European Space Agency (ESA).
