Roy Torbert, MMS FIELDS investigation lead, University of New Hampshire, demonstrates magnetic reconnection at the NASA Social held one day before the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket with NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) spacecraft onboard launches from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Space Launch Complex 41 Vertical Integration Facility, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Launch of the Atlas V rocket is scheduled for March 12 and will carry the four identical MMS spacecraft into orbit to provide the first three-dimensional view of magnetic reconnection.
