Two segments of the left-hand Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) originally slated for space shuttle mission 61-G are separated in the Vehicle Assembly Building. The destack operation is in progress to allow investigators of the space shuttle Challenger explosion opportunity to inspect the way the segments seal once in place for launch.
