Immediately east of the lake is light, linear Interstate Highway 98S, which parallels U.S. Highway 23. Both of these northeast-southwest-aligned roadways connect Gainesville (near center) with Atlanta (not discernible). Power line rights-of-way cut through the darker, forested mountains slopes northwest of the lake.
