Attired in a training version of the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU), astronaut James S. Voss is assisted by Boeing’s Kari Reuter. The mission specialist was about to be submerged in a 25-feet deep pool in Johnson Space Center’s (JSC) Weightless Environment Training Facility (WET-F). Minutes later, Voss and Michael L. Gernhardt were underwater, having achieved neutral buoyancy. Neutral buoyancy allowed for rehearsal of space walk chores assigned to their scheduled mission aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
