Afloat in a small life raft, astronaut Terrence W. Wilcutt, participates in emergency bailout training at the Johnson Space Center's (JSC) Weightless Environment Training Facility (WET-F). Assisted here by two SCUBA-equipped divers, the pilot was joined in this exercise by astronauts William F. Readdy, commander, and Jerome (Jay) Apt, mission specialist. The other crew members had completed the training session earlier in the week. The exercises included a simulated drop from the Space Shuttle using its long escape pole, deployment of a life raft and signaling of rescue help.
