In Space Shuttle Discovery’s payload bay, STS-92 Pilot Pamela Ann Melroy (left) and Commander Brian Duffy share thoughts about the mission as they inspect part of the payload (behind them), the Pressurized Mating Adapter. The STS-92 crew has been inspecting the payload in preparation for launch Oct. 5, 2000. The mission is the fifth flight for the construction of the International Space Station. The payload also includes the Integrated Truss Structure Z-1. During the 11-day mission, four extravehicular activities (EVAs), or space walks, are planned.
