STS-68 Pilot Terrence Wilcutt works with the Chromosome and Plant Cell Division in Space Experiment 5 (CHROMEX 5) onboard the middeck of the Orbiter Endeavour. The CHROMEX 5 was designed to gain an understanding of the reproductive and growth abnormalities that apparently occur to plants exposed to microgravity, and to determine if these physiological changes may result from spaceflight conditions such as microgravity.
