An overall view of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) which was deployed by the Apollo 17 crewmen during the first extravehicular activity (EVA) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. The object in the center foreground is the Lunar Ejecta and Meteorites (LEAM) experiment. The ASLEP's Central Station is at left center with antenna. The ASLEP's power source, Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator, is the dark object at right center. The debris pile near left center edge contains experiment wrappers and covers, etc. The white object beyond the debris pile is the Lunar Surface Gravimeter. The other ALSEP components are out of view.
