Sharipov and astronaut Leroy Chiao (out of frame), commander and NASA ISS science officer, spent 4 ½ hours outside the International Space Station (ISS) installing navigational and communications equipment for the arrival of the first Automated Transfer Vehicle cargo craft. Sharipov also deployed an 11-pound Russian nanosatellite.
